Unlock the power of portable ultrasound in the fast-paced world of emergency medical services (EMS). This hands-on session is designed for Nurses, Paramedics, and A-EMTs, offering an approachable introduction to using portable ultrasound devices in the pre-hospital setting. Learn the essentials of obtaining vascular access and performing Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (E-FAST) exams.
Participants will have the opportunity to practice using various brands of portable ultrasound devices, gaining familiarity with their operation and application in real-world emergency scenarios. No prior ultrasound experience is necessary—by the end of this session, you’ll walk away with the foundational knowledge to start integrating ultrasound into your EMS toolkit. This presentation will familiarize participants with the use of Ultrasound devices to obtain vascular access in the pre-hospital space. It covers the basics of ultrasound equipment, the vein/catheter selection process, and the technique for cannulating a vessel using ultrasound. Participants will also learn to navigate the various challenges associated with IV insertions, ensuring proper technique and improving patient care outcomes.
